Unit Question: How does music change me?

Requirements:

-Create a new page on your wiki. Name your new page "How does music change me".
-Spend 7 days creating your own songs with GarageBand.
-You need to create 5 songs. (20 points for each song)
-Each song needs to be at least 1 minute long. (10 points)
-Each song must have at least 5 tracks. (10 points)
-All of your songs must have at least one edit.
-All of your songs must have at least two "pan" changes.
-At least one of your songs must have your voice recorded on it.
-Upload all your songs to your wikispace.
-There is a total of 100 points for this assignment.
-You will also receive an IB grades for Investigate, Create, Evaluate, and Attitude.


Day 1:
Take the Test on Skyward.

INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences)
Identify the Problem:
1. What is the problem you need to solve? - My problem is that I don't know how to use GarageBand.
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world? - Everybody uses it on a daily basis.
3. How does music change me. - Music affects my mood. It also affects how I act.
4. What are the requirements for this assignment? - SEE ABOVE.
5. What is GarageBand? - A program that you can use to create songs.
6. Spend 15 minutes experimenting with GarageBand. List three new things you learned about GarageBand: I learned that there are a lot of loops, I learned how to delete a track, and I learned how to combine tracks/loops.

Design Brief:
7. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it for. - I am making 5 songs on GarageBand because I need to put them on my wiki, and I'm making them for Ms. Bradfield and for me!

9. What are the limitations you have with this assignment? -Neither Ms. Bradfield or I know a lot about GarageBand.


PLAN:
Day 1: Answer the questions under "Investigate", and start GarageBand.
Day 2: Finish Day 1 and start GarageBand.
Day 3: Work on GarageBand.
Day 4: Work on GarageBand.
Day 5: Work on GarageBand.
Day 6: Work on GarageBand.
Day 7: Send your songs to iTunes, upload your songs to your Wikispace, and burn your song to a CD if you choose.


CREATE:
  • Use appropriate software to create your songs . (and be nice to my computer!)
  • Follow your plan.
  • Pay attention to the quality of your songs!


EVALUATE:
10. How many songs did you create? -4 songs
11. How could you improve your songs? -I could have done better edits.
12. Did you meet all of the requirements? -No, I needed one more song.
13. Reflect on all the steps of the Design Cycle.

  • What did you do well in the Investigate step? What do you need to improve? -I figured out how to delete a track, but I could have investigated more with the voice recordings.
  • What did you do well in the Plan step? What do you need to improve? -I followed the plan well for creating the songs.
  • What did you do well in the Create step? What do you need to improve? -I created 4 awesome songs! But I could have done better with the editing.
  • What did you do well in the Evaluate step? What do you need to improve? -I did really well in the Evaluate step.
14. Were you responsible in using the software, Internet, pictures, and computer? -Yes!
15. How does music change the way you act and feel about yourself? -When I create my own song, I feel proud.
16. What grade do you deserve on this project? (1 - 6) -5

ATTITUDE:
17. Reflect on your attitude on each step of the Design Cycle. Did you completely answer each step without complaining, being a whiny baby, or saying "it's too hard". Explain your answer: Yes, I didn't whine, and I did the best I could in the amount of time I had.
